Today is Lag BaOmer, the day of passing of Rabi Shimon Bar Yohai, the founder of the Zohar.
This coming Wednesday night and all through Thursday, May 10, 2012 is the passing of Rabi Shimon Bar Yohai. Bring the holiness of Rabi Shimon Bar Yohai to your home learn his teachings, the Zohar HaKadosh (even though you don’t understand it). Light a candle in his merit and for the elevation of his soul and pray. May your prayers and all your good wishes come through very soon, Amen!
The Havdalah service marks the end of Shabbat. It should be performed no earlier than nightfall on Saturday night.You will need three things for this ritual: a glass of wine, some fragrant spices, and a Havdalah candle.

In remembrance of the tragic death of the 24,000 disciples of Rabbi Akiva who died because of a lack of respect, in the weeks between Passover and Shavuot (April 15 until May 25 2012), several mourning practices are observed during this period. There is one day, however, within this period on which mourning is suspended—Lag BaOmer, the 33rd day of the Omer count (May 10 2012).
Mourning Practices:
One is not permitted to: Celebrate marriages and wedding celebrations, cut one’s hair, listening to instrumental music and purchase new garments.
